![]() The only version for Pi Zero does not run on the Pi Zero 2 (I’ve tried it!) Fortunately, the forum is suggesting to try one of the latest beta version of the system, available on its hub (look for for one of the latest release of LibreELEC-RPi2.arm-11.0-nightly).Īfter installation and boot, it works! - not without one or two initial crashs, but nothing too annoying (after all, it is still beta!) On the Forum, some are advising to restrict to 720p because of the smaller RAM size than, e.g., a Pi4, but my test on some of my movies shows no problems. Problem: there is no version of LibreELEC available on its site for the Pi Zero 2. ![]() But with the Pi Zero 2, a pocket-sized media center seems an interesting option! I can see many cases when it could be useful, e.g., when traveling : you just need a TV nearby with an HDMI cable to view your favorite movie! Then I thought of an interesting application: Turning a Pi into a media center with LibreELEC (aka Kodi) is a popular application (I have installed several LibreELEC systems around me), but everybody knows that a Pi Zero is not enough for a decent service: A Pi 3 or (better) a Pi 4 is the minimum. The announcement of a new version of the Pi Zero, the Pi Zero 2 W, raised my interest, although I was skeptical: Pi Zero CPU capacity is indeed more than enough for all my applications, so why bother a CPU “five times as fast” ? I nevertheless ordered a Pi Zero 2, “just in case” □ I love its capacity to perform a single application for a modest price, and I have many Pi0 around me doing that (an SMS gateway, a fridge magnet, a power consumption monitor, a CO2 monitor, a family info-center, a Strava tracker, etc.) Note that detailed instructions on how to build the miniKodi are available in this postĪs you can guess from all the projects I describe on this site, my pet single board computer is the Raspberry Pi Zero (WH - with WiFI and pre-soldered headers).
